The Cycle Response Unit is a part of London Ambulance Service. The paramedics "carry all the equipment they need to respond to emergencies and can reach patients quickly in congested areas across London [on bicycles]. The Cycle Team has bases in the West End, the City, Stratford, Kingston and Richmond and at major airports and train stations. Since its launch 18 years ago, the team has grown to include over 50 cycle paramedics who now treat over 15,000 patients a year." The service has been set up by BMX cyclist Tom Lynch.
